Manhattan Loft Corporation worked alongside Hackney Council, Network Rail and the GLA to develop the concept for Hackney Walk – a landmark luxury fashion district in the East End.

Designed by award-winning architect David Adjaye, Hackney Walk augmented an existing cluster of outlet stores with state-of-the-art retail and studio space housing established designer brands and emerging local fashion designers. The £100 million mixed-use development centres around 12 beautifully recommissioned Victorian railway arches, featuring striking golden shutters, alongside new purpose-built facilities.

Conceived as a 21st century celebration of the area’s rag trade roots, Hackney Walk looks set to re-establish the East End as the home of London’s fashion industry. Opening in September 2016, existing heritage brands such as Burberry, Pringle, Bally and Aquascutum have already been joined by a host of iconic names, including Nike, Nicole Farhi, Matches Fashion and Anya Hindmarch.
