A rare opportunity arose in 2016, when the opportunity to redevelop a stunning 1960s warehouse in Shoreditch became available.
Manhattan Loft Corporation instructed Adjaye Associates with the brief to design a building of the highest quality that draws upon the historic context and, through sensitively designed interventions and a light refurbishment to the existing building elements it cohesively strengthens the relationship to the South-Shoreditch Conservation Area.
Planning was granted in 2019 to create a three-storey extension, including an outdoor terrace, together with overall façade modifications to the existing building to create something modern and sophisticated.
COVID19, as well as other geopolitical factors that have impacted the global economy have put significant pressure on the development of Curtain Road, ultimately delaying its completion.
Manhattan Loft Corporation has partnered with Last Days, an organisation dedicated to revitalising dormant spaces, transcending traditional property guardianship to become architects of community-centric transformations.
From Summer 2024, Last Days will be injecting fresh vitality into Shoreditch, enriching its artistic community and adding another dynamic layer to its cultural landscape by running unique events from 118 Curtain Road.
